My Story

Little Blue Mountain is named after my peaceful mountain retreat, where my family and I escape to reconnect with nature and each other. We have spent countless days and nights exploring the nearby woods, playing in streams, and relaxing while listening to the soothing sounds of the forest from the porch swing.

Since high school, I have been an avid photographer, trying to capture those fleeting moments and create memories that will last a lifetime. But I never thought I had any artistic talent—I always figured that quality belonged to my parents and sisters. However, my desire to constantly learn something new (and with the unwavering support of my husband, Chris), has led me to teach myself crocheting, gardening, and baking over the past few years. My true artistic journey began when I tried to keep up with my children’s vivid imaginations (and often fell short). My son, Palmer, has the remarkable ability to fix anything and engineer any new design his brain thinks up. My spicy pecan of a daughter, Nola, has a natural gift for drawing that leaves me in jaw-dropping awe. At just six years old, Nola introduced me to Procreate, creating digital designs and even offering me tutorials on how to use the app. That amazing hubby I mentioned earlier, Chris, who is the ultimate Renaissance man and builds furniture and entire home renovations, is my go-to “contractor” for all of my Pinterest ideas and supports me on any and all of my wildest dreams. I cannot leave out our sweet, but very goofy pup, Buck, who you will see in several of my sketches. He reminds me to enjoy the sunshine, always greet people with a smile and nothing beats a much-needed snuggle. I would like to share the encouragement I have been provided, to all artists and those that do not consider themselves artists (me, included), that have a dream and a creative spark inside of them ready to come out.

I have always been a cheerleader at heart, with a sunny disposition that I try to infuse into my designs. I am always encouraging my friends and family to chase their dreams. Little Blue Mountain is all about lifting up artists and creators, helping them share their passions and businesses with the world. If I can help bring someone’s creations to life, then I have truly succeeded.

My whimsical illustrations often remind me of all the books I have read since childhood, from the tried-and-true favorites to the new ones I am diving into. I love to include my deep appreciation for nature’s elements and cannot resist celebrating any and all holidays. Spending countless hours in libraries and local bookstores, along with tutorials online, I am exploring all the techniques the art world has to offer. Right now, I am focusing on pen and ink, colored pencils, and Procreate to bring my creations to life.

Seeing my doodles transform into illustrations in books and stationery, as wearable art on clothing and even shoes, has inspired me to pursue this path. My ultimate goal is to create various ways to spread JOY and make someone’s heart SMILE!
